Terms of service

These terms govern use of Muster by organisations (“you”, “your organisation”) and the people they invite. By creating an organisation, or accepting an invitation to one, you agree to them.

What Muster is — and what it is not

This is the most important section. Please read it even if you skip the rest.

Muster hosts your training content and records who completed it and when. We do not author, review, certify or endorse your training content, and we make no representation that it is adequate, accurate, complete, or sufficient for any legal, regulatory, safeguarding or insurance purpose. Your organisation is solely responsible for the content it uploads or links to, for deciding what training its volunteers need, and for satisfying itself that the content meets that need. A completion record from Muster is evidence that a person clicked through specific material and typed their name to confirm it — nothing more.

This is a “bring your own content” platform: we don’t supply, license or sell safeguarding, compliance or any other training material. If your organisation needs advice on what training is legally or contractually required, that’s a question for your insurer, denomination, regulator or legal adviser — not us.

Volunteers are assumed to be 16 or over

Muster is built for adult volunteers. We don’t knowingly collect data from, or provide accounts to, anyone under 16, and the platform isn’t designed with the additional safeguards that would be needed for under-16 learners. If your organisation trains younger volunteers, don’t enrol them on Muster — use a process appropriate to their age instead.

Acceptable use

You (and anyone you invite) agree not to:

Upload unlawful, defamatory, or harmful content;
Use the platform to store or process personal data you’re not entitled to hold;
Attempt to access another organisation’s data, bypass rate limits, or interfere with the platform’s operation;
Misrepresent a completion record, including asking or allowing someone else to complete training under your name.

Plans, tier caps and billing

Each plan is capped by active volunteers (anyone enrolled in training in the current billing period) and, on paid plans, by video storage. Exceeding your cap may require an upgrade before you can enrol further volunteers. Charges are billed in advance and described at checkout; cancelling stops future billing but doesn’t refund the current period.

Your content and our licence to host it

You keep ownership of everything you upload. You grant us a licence to host, store, transmit and display it solely to operate the platform for your organisation and the people you enrol — we don’t use it for any other purpose.

Termination

You can stop using Muster at any time from your organisation’s settings. We may suspend or terminate an account for breach of these terms, non-payment, or unlawful use, with notice where practicable. See our privacy notice for what happens to your data on deletion.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Muster is provided “as is”. We are not liable for any incident, claim or loss arising from the adequacy, accuracy or delivery of training content hosted on the platform — that responsibility sits with the organisation that chose and uploaded it (see What Muster is — and what it is not, above).

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time; material changes will be communicated to organisation owners.
